Formative Accessibility
Formative is committed to fostering a learning environment that supports students with a range of superpowers. 🦸
We are proud to share The Formative Accessibility Conformance Report - Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), which documents our status towards Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.
The VPAT form was created by the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). We use this form to measure our steps towards conformance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. For international compliance we are guided by EN 301 549 (the European compliance regulation for digital accessibility).
Achieving maximum accessibility is at the core of our mission to help educational stakeholders reach any student. Accessibility standards are essential to help any student to express knowledge and to help educators differentiate instruction within any learning environment. As we grow, we vow to continue to make significant strides to develop accessibility within all aspects of our products.
While Formative aims to support the highest level of accessibility, ultimately Formative assignments and assessments are built by teachers who know the needs of their students best. As a teacher resource, we recommend Accessibility on Formative: Guidelines for creating an accessible formative and tips for maximizing instruction for students with learning differences, which suggests strategies to create Formatives that may maximize accessibility.
Our site is built and tested for use on a broad range of internet-enabled devices, so that a maximum number of students can interact on their personal devices. Specific site features for accessibility include:
As we move forward, we aim to soon report that we have reached high level conformance to all accessibility guidelines. For more information about Formative accessibility, contact us at [email protected]
